Training & Development
All training will now take place online until the 31st March 2021. BSCP reserves the right to change or cancel events at short notice.
Birmingham Safeguarding Children Partnership (BSCP), provide safeguarding learning and development opportunities for professionals, working with children, young people and families in Birmingham.
Purpose of Multi Agency Training:
Multi-agency training enables professionals to work effectively both within their own agency and across organisational boundaries. Training people together can make a significant contribution to building mutually respectful and trusting relationships, which forms the foundation of partnership working. Our training reflects new learning and recommendations from Serious Case Reviews, Local Child Safeguarding Practice Review, Audits, Evaluation Reports and changes in legislation, guidance and best practice both nationally and locally. This ensures that Birmingham safeguarding professionals are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to safeguard children and young people.
BSCP training aims to:
- Improve communication between professionals and others working with children, young people and families
- Develop a shared understanding of roles and responsibilities
- Contribute to whatever actions are needed to safeguard and promote the child’s welfare
- Improve assessment, analysis and decision making
- Improve effective working together based on sound working relationships.

To book a training place,first you will need to create a user account. We have produced step-by-step instructions, to guide you through the registration process. Once you have done this, you will be able to:
- Manage your own bookings.
- Download course materials.
- Access course evaluations.
- Download your certificate of attendance (a course evaluation must be completed first).
- Access your training history.

Please note: delegates must create their own individual account. There is no facility for one person to create an account in their name and book places for multiple members of staff.
If you are not booked onto a training course or the course is full please DO NOT turn up, you will be turned away!
The focus of multi-agency training is on working together to safeguard children. All courses are delivered are interactive and supportive. Delegates are actively encouraged to participate in discussions and share their knowledge and experience with colleagues from partner agencies. We aim to promote a safe, constructive learning environment and hope you enjoy these development opportunities to maximise your learning.
Evaluation & Certificates:
You will be asked to complete an on-line evaluation after each course; this assists in planning future events and ensures we meet our objectives and the needs of Birmingham’s workforce. You and your line manager may also be asked to participate in evaluating the impact of training on practice. This will entail completing an impact questionnaire three-six months post training. By taking part in this training you are committing to taking part in impact evaluation if requested. Delegates are responsible for downloading their own certificates following training, please allow at least five working days for these to be made available after training.
Delegates may identify a replacement from their own agency to attend on their behalf. However, confirmation of this change must be notified to the BSCP.
Please note: delegates are able to cancel their own place 14 days prior to the course date (without charge) by logging into their account here.
Non Attendance Appeals:
Lunch is not provided at any of our training events. You may be able to purchase food at some of our venues or alternatively you can bring a packed lunch. Tea and coffee will be provided in the morning and mid-afternoon.
